Elmer Holbert Burns

He was the son of the late Elmer H. Burns Sr. and the late Anna Lee Ramey Burns.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty G. Burns.

He is survived by his children, Drucilla (William) Beaudry of Huntsville, AL, Patricia (Derrick) Zingg, of Knoxville, TN and Joseph (Barbara) Burns of Warner-Robins, GA; grandchildren Laura Beaudry Herring, Brian Beaudry, Matthew Zingg, Whitney Zingg, Ashleigh Burns and Sarah Burns, and one great grandchild, Cole William Herring.

Elmer attended Central High School in Chattanooga before enlisting in the Navy in 1944.

After his discharge in 1946, he attended McKenzie School of Business.

Elmer was the owner of E.H. Burns Painting Co. in Chattanooga for over 25 years. Elmer, in partnership with Mr. Bill Camp, started B&C Construction in the mid 1970’s.

Elmer was a long standing member of the East Lake Masonic Lodge and the Alhambra Shrine.

The funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 13, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lomenick Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
