Ervin C. Turnmire

Ervin C. Turnmire, 86, of East Ridge passed away Monday, May 21, 2012. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church since 1967 and had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and for 17 years served as Choir Director. Mr. Turnmire was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps serving in Iwo Jima during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Dixon and Lilly Florence McGee Turnmire and two grandchildren, Jason Turnmire and Sara Sherwood.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Turnmire; four sons, Mike (Ann) Turnmire, Dana (Kandy) Turnmire, Kim Turnmire and Brent (Terri) Turnmire; one daughter, Marsha Turnmire (Neal) Meers; 17 grandchildren, Tara Turnmire (Kevin) Trobaugh, Brian Turnmire, Scott Turnmire, Elizabeth Turnmire, Daniel Turnmire, Hannah Turnmire (Matt) Knight, Adam (Allison) Turnmire, Aaron Turnmire, Jonathan (Amy) Turnmire, Brittany Turnmire (John Aaron) Patterson, Bethany Turnmire, Ethan Turnmire, Evan Turnmire, Christopher Sherwood, Steven Meers, Brittany Meers and Brenden Meers; 11 great-grandchildren..

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian R. Kurtz officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
