

Evelyn Carter Fry, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away on October 26, 2011. Evelyn was born in Pennington Gap, Virginia on January 19, 1922. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and retired from TVA in Knoxville.
She had been a member of Brainerd Baptist Church since 1961, and an active member of her Sunday School Class. She has served as a substitute teacher and a librarian for Brainerd Baptist Kindergarten, served on the Church Library Staff for many years, served as the President of the Chattanooga Boys Choir Guild, and served on the Allied Arts Council. She held a Life Membership in the P. T A. at Anna B. Lacy School and served on the Hamilton County P. T. A. Council was a member of the TVA Retirement Association, and was a member of the Missionary Ridge Chapter 1777 of the United Daughter of the Confederacy.
She was preceded in death by her Mother-Beatrice Wohlford Carter, and her father- Bradley Johnson Carter of Oak Ridge, TN. And her brother- Douglas H. Carter of Golden, Colorado.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford D. Fry of 61 years; son, C. Randolph Fry of Chattanooga, TN; grand-daughter, Jennifer Amanda Fry of Chicago, IL; grandson, Christopher Randolph Fry, of Hagerstown, Indiana; grand-daughter, Jessica Arin Fry of Hagerstown, IN; nephew, Brad Carter of Lakeview, CO; nieces, Kelly Carter of Lakeview, Colorado, and Becky Carter of Washington,
D. C.; sister in law, Phyllis Verran; and brothers in law, W.D. and Lawrence Fry of Greeneville, TN.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Lung Association.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
