Frances loved God, adored her husband, and was proud of her family. She was born in Summerville, GA and grew up in Chattanooga where she graduated from Central High School in 1941. She married the love of her life, Joe, in 1942. Frances waited eagerly at the train station for Joe to return from WWII and then they began their family.
Frances had a rewarding career at TVA for over 30 years. Once her family was raised, she pursued her true passion of singing. She took her lunch breaks to attend voice lessons at UTC. Frances was actively involved in the choir at East Lake Baptist Church where she was a long-time member. She was a current member of Frawley Baptist Church. Frances loved to read. She was thrilled to fulfill her role as Mother, Grandmommie, and Great-Grandmommie.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Joe Byrl King, Sr.; her parents, Robert L. Henry and Mittie Brooks Henry; sisters, Robertine Schmidt and Doris Brown.
Cherishing memories of Frances are her son, Joe Byrl King, Jr. (Connie); daughter, Marcia Hines (Tom); grandchildren, Brandon King, Adam Hines (Megan), and Lauren Hines; great-grandchildren, Adrianna and Marissa Hines; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
A Graveside Service celebrating Frances’ life will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Thursday, May 20th at 12:30 p.m. where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Joe.
