

Fred A. Pope, age 96, of Rossville,Georgia passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. He was born on December 7, 1915 in Walker County, Georgia to the late William and Temperance Pope. Mr. Pope served in the United States Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant. Over the years he was employed in Chattanooga with the Home Stores, Sears and Combustion. Mr. Pope was the owner of Pope Refrigeration. He was a member of Newnan Springs United Methodist Church for over 75 years.
Preceded in death by first wife, Mary Lou Boleman Pope; several brothers and sisters.
Survived by his wife, Verlene Pope, of Rossville, Georgia; daughter, Patsy Putnam and her husband Larry Putnam of East Ridge, Tennessee; granddaughter, Michele Wilkins and her husband Mike; grandson, Michael Putnam and his wife Ruth; three great grandchildren, Allison, Michaela and Megan; two step sons, Stan Dean and his wife Dianna and Steve Choate and his wife Ann all of Ringgold, Georgia; three step grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 1 PM at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Lowery officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
