

George T. Henderson, Sr. was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 10, 2023. He was born on March 19, 1938. He was a devoted husband and father. He had a keen sense of humor and was a hard worker. He retired from Ryder Integrated Logistics. He was known by his CB handle, “The Tennessee Poor Boy.” He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He was a long-time member and former deacon at Duncan Park Baptist Church. He led the campaign and oversaw the building of the church pavilion which is named in his honor. One of his greatest adventures was a mission trip to Mongolia with Harbor Evangelism International, Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Dottie Henderson, who was the love of his life. He is also survived by his four children, ten granddaughters , and nineteen great grandchildren. His children are as follows- Jamie (Ken) Brown; David (Judy Bourdon) Henderson; Julie (Bill) Fine; George (Tammy) Henderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 14 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. Terry Evans officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
