CMD. Sgt Major Grover Britton McBryar, Sr., 80, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025 in Clarksville, Tennessee. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he held the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the Army Command Sergeant Major Academy where he was president of class 33. During his Army career he served in 32 countries and spoke seven languages. He served as Command Sergeant Major with the 311th MIBN “Eyes of the Eagle” Military Intelligence 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division at Fort Campbell and led the first 24 soldiers into Desert Storm.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy McBryar; an infant son, Christopher Shane McBryar and his parents, William and Lottie McBryar.
Survivors include three sons, Grover Britton McBryar, Jr., William Luke McBryar and Dane Eric McBryar and one brother, Derrell McBryar.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN 37412.
