Helen Bernice Simpson, 92, of East Ridge, TN went home to be with the Lord Thursday, February 25, 2021. She was a charter member of Woodmore Church of God and later a member of Redemption to the Nations. Mrs. Simpson was the founder of Blue Bells and Joy Bells girl’s ministry and discipleship program, wrote and directed many plays and made all of the costumes. She was devoted to her family and her church and was active in church as long as she was able. She had also taught piano and had a side yard business for many years with her husband, “Wild Bill.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Landon Simpson; daughter, Sharon Maynard; parents, Alan and Sarah Thomas.
Survivors include her son, James Byron (Anne) Simpson; son-in-law, Buddy Ralph Maynard; grandchildren, April Elizabeth Lee, Landon Brooke Simpson and Stacey (Michael) Alvey; great-grandchildren, Jade Zariah Knauss, Noah Austin Hamlen and Nicholas Jackson Alvey.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Saturday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Daniel Beard officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
