

Henry W. Little, 92, passed away on Sunday, January 11. He was born on October 8, 1922 in Americus, GA and is preceded in death by his parents, H. Glenn and Autrie Little, brother, H. Glenn Little, Jr., and sister, Virginia Tucker Carbaugh. Henry graduated from Harding High School, Charlotte, NC in 1940 and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1943 where he was inducted into the Pi Tau Sigma National Mechanical Engineering Society. During WW II he served in the Army Air Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant and after the war married his beloved wife of 68 years, Christine Brown, on October 5, 1946. A resident of Chattanooga, TN since 1946, he retired from RockTenn’s Mill Division as Vice President of Manufacturing in 1988. After retirement Henry and Chris enjoyed worldwide travels with family and friends and he was able to devote more time to fishing and woodworking.
Henry was involved in various community service roles, working with Junior Achievement, Explorer Scouts Post 2033, Habitat for Humanity and served on the advisory committees for Engineering Design Technology at Chattanooga State Technical Community College and the Engineering Department at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. During his tenure in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, he held several offices in the Chattanooga chapter. As a supporter of higher education, he was recognized in the Leadership Circle of Georgia Tech and the University of Tennessee President’s Club.
As a member of Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Henry participated in the Good News and King’s Men Sunday School classes while being active in the Homebound Ministry.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Brown Little; H. Wade Little, Jr. (Sue) of Rising Fawn, GA; C. Diane Cox (Dale) of Wayzata, MN; Cathy E. Parker (David) of Franklin, TN; David B. Little (Linda Ratto) of Chattanooga, TN; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Baptist Children’s Home, Chattanooga, TN or Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation, Chattanooga, TN.
Visitation will be held for Henry from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 15, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Celebration of life service will be at 11:30 am on Friday, January 16 at the Brainerd Baptist Church, the family will receive friends from 10:30 am until time of the service.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
