

He was born on March 17, 1929 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late James and Dollie Watts. He was preceded in death by 8 siblings.
Herb was a long time member of City Church of Chattanooga, where he served in different capacities and was a part of the Manning Sunday school class for many years. Mr. Watts was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. While in the Marine’s, he was selected to participate on the rifle team and also served as Honor Guard to President Truman. He enjoyed working at the Choo Choo as the Warehouse Manager, where he retired after 22 years of service.
In 1950, Herb married the love of his life, Jeanette. Together they built a life full of love, faith and family. Herb was an avid coin collector. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and a student of the word. His greatest desire was to make Jesus known wherever he went. He will be missed greatly.
Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Jeanette Watts, daughters, Debbie (Jerry) Phillips, Cathy (Jimmy) Burgess and Donna (Chris) Allen, 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 in the funeral home with Pastor Ernie Reno officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
