Horace Jewell Kirkland, JR., passed away on February 6, 2025. He was born on October 30, 1945 to Jewell and Eva Kirkland. He grew up in the East Lake community and graduated from City High School. He served in the Marine Reserves for six years. Horace worked at Duff Brothers Pharmaceuticals and later at Benny Jackson Ford and the Chrysler dealership in Ringgold. In the latter years he worked as a security guard at the Volkswagen plant. He retired from Gestamp.
He was survived by his wife, Daphne Kirkland. Two daughters, Brandi Kirkland from Atlanta and Kristina Kirkland from Knoxville. Two stepsons, Jarrod Holder from Rossville, GA and Brian Holder from Hillsboro, Oregon. His brother, Edwin Kirkland from Milledgeville, GA.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 15th at the Spring Creek Church of God on Spring Creek Road in East Ridge with Pastor Bennie Mills and Rev. Edmon Stallings officiating. Visitation will be from 12 to 2. Funeral at 2, followed by a military burial at Plowman Cemetery in Apison, TN.
