Ira was preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr. and Minnie Pinkerton, his brothers John Jr. and Edward E. Pinkerton.
He was a 50 year member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Church Treasurer, and on various committees of the Church.
He was also a member of the Chattanooga Half Century Club. Ira retired from Dixie Yarns after 38 years of service. His last position was Production Planning Manager.
He is survived by his nephew James E. Pinkerton of Acworth, GA and nieces: Janet O’Grady of Tampa, FL, Sandra Eaves and Lynda McAfee of Chattanooga.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home and 9 to 11 AM on Thursday at the church.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Hickory Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
