Myrtle Frances “Jackie” Nelson of East Ridge passed away Monday, October 13, 2025. She was a native of LaFayette, Georgia and attended LaFayette High School. Jackie was the oldest member of Delray Baptist Church and the Auditorium Sunday School Class. She retired from Belk Department Store after 39 years of service, starting her career with Miller Brothers Department Stores.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Nelson.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Dan Scott, Elaine Kastendieck, Tommy Baker, Mike Scott, Greg Scott, Robin Osborn, Chris Scott, David Scott, Loretta Baker, Mark Hampton and Dana Scott; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Wease officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 PM Sunday. Burial will be Monday at 10:30 AM at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
