Jacky Cagle

Jacky Lebron Cagle, 78, of East Ridge passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026 in a local hospital. Jacky was a member and Deacon at Glory Road Baptist Church and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. He attended Brainerd High School, Central High School and Kirkman High School and received his Auto Mechanics Certification from Kirkman. He was retired from the City of East Ridge as supervisor of the vehicle maintenance department. Jacky was a former member of the East Ridge Optimist Club and served 12 years on East Ridge City Council.

Jacky’s softball career began in 1973. There was a group of men graduating from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga and Jacky joined them and formed a team known as U-Haul. Jacky became the coach of the team and sanctioned them with the Amateur Softball Association. This team would experience several name changes including Goof’s Factory Pants, and then Mr. Trophy Team. They participated in the Chattanooga recreation league which awarded the winning teams with berths to the ASA State Tournament. Jacky continued playing ASA softball as he went on to coach the Chattanooga Stars who played ASA Qualifiers, State and National tournaments.

In 1980, Jacky began coaching women’s softball. He saw the game of softball continue to grow as numerous changes were made to the game. These included the pitching arch, balls and strikes and others. His women’s team played above their classification level by participating in the Women’s Class C Slow-pitch national tournament. ASA later added the Women’s Class D division where Jacky’s team continued to play in the state and national tournaments on a more competitive level. Not afraid of the competition, Jacky entered the team in the prestigious Music City Classic where according to him, “we got an education in softball. ASA/USA Softball is the cream of the crop.” Jacky continued to support ASA/USA softball when called upon.

Jacky was preceded in death by his parents, Arcie and Helen May Cagle and two siblings, Robert Cagle and Jerry Cagle.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Cagle; daughter, Cindy (Steve) Lovelady; granddaughter, Ashlyn Ballew; great-grandchildren, Haven Ballew, Makenzie Ballew, Maddie Ballew, Jade Ballew and Matthew Ballew; three siblings, Wanda (Dawn) Cagle, Kathy (Blaine) Cagle and David (Anita) Cagle; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12 PM Thursday, September 17th at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. David Winton officiating. Entombment will be in Lomenick Mausoleum in East Ridge.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Wednesday September 16th and from 11 AM – 12 PM Thursday September 17th at the funeral home.
