She was born December 10th 1944 in New London, Connecticut, and lived most of her early years in Alexandria, VA where she graduated from Francis C. Hammond High School in 1963. She then moved to Chattanooga to attend the Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing, where she earned her nursing degree in 1966. Jackie loved nursing and caring for people. In a career that spanned over 50 years, she held nursing positions with both Erlanger and Memorial Hospital; she served as Director of Nursing for Downtown General Hospital, as well as Director of Clinical Operations for Kindred Hospital where she assisted in the opening of their facility here. She also worked for several years in home health at ContinuCare and for Volunteers in Medicine, working with others to provide free medical services to uninsured adults in need. In 1997, Jackie became a Nurse Auditor at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee where she worked until her retirement in 2012. Jackie never met a stranger and was always helping others. She loved and attended her church, Frawley Baptist, where she worked as church secretary, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the East Ridge Ruritan Club and a 50-year member of the Tennessee Order of the Eastern Star, Dayton Chapter 360.
