Mr. Caldwell was born in Shelbyville, TN to Vernon and Minnie Caldwell. He was a 50 year member of the Mason Lodge of Shelbyville, past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 945 of Chattanooga, and retired from TVA Sequoyah and Boilermakers Local 454. He was also a WW II US Army veteran serving in Rhineland and Central Europe and recipient of two bronze stars and the Purple Heart medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters; and one brother.
Surviving are his wife, Dora Lee Shaffer Caldwell; sons, Gary (Rhonda) Caldwell, Ron (Yvonne) Caldwell, Craig (Nancy) Shaffer and Mark (Rachael) Shaffer; daughter, April (James) Cordell; 12 grandchildren; and sister, Carlena Potts, Shelbyville, TN.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Graveside Services will be at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
