James “J.B.” Bennett Collins Jr, 103 of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. He was the son of the late James Bennett and Maggie Dezell Collins Sr. J.B. was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He graduated from Central High School and in 1940 graduated from King College as Valor Victorian in Bristol, TN. He was a reporter-editor for the Chattanooga Free Press for 59 years covering the city government.
He is survived by his loving wife, Polly Collins, sons, Benny (Sandy) Collins, David Russell (Pam) Collins, grandchildren, Katy Lynn Collins Taylor, Eric Russell (April) Collins, great-grandchildren, Ty Collins and Henry Taylor.
Gravesides services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, May 24, 2021 at Plowman Cemetery with Pastor Chris Ehlers officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
