

Mr. Davis was born in Georgetown, TN to Samuel and Sophia Davis and grew up in Apison, TN. He was a member of Calvary Church Assembly of God for 21 years where he served as an usher for many years. He retired as a boilermaker from Combustion Engineering with 30 years where he served as Union Steward from 1964 to 1981. He later worked at Walden Security for 10 years, was a member of American Legion Post 95 and a US Air Force Korean War veteran .
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randall Davis; and brothers, W.S. Davis and Thomas Arthell Davis.
Survivors are his wife of 42 years, Nellie Hawkins Davis; son, Richard A. Davis; Grandson, Joshua Davis; daughters, Crystal and Kristy Williams; sister, Ruby (Joe) Terrell; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 1 PM on Wednesday at Calvary Church Assembly of God (1200 S. Seminole Drive, East Ridge, TN 37412) with Rev. Bill Lickliter officiating and visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 95.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Calvary Church Building Fund, 1200 S. Seminole Drive, East Ridge, TN 37412 or Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Terry Melvin, Mellissa Hall and the staff at Hospice of Chattanooga – Walker Road, the staff at Memorial Home Health, and the church family for all their prayers and support.
