He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was a Veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was retired from King Of The Road Catering Company.
Survivors are his wife, Shirley Hammontree of Flat Rock, AL; five children, Angie (Clyde) Workman of Flat Rock, Jimmy (Judy) Hammontree of Chattanooga, Shelia (Charles) Lamb of Flat Rock, Carol (Jerry) Brooks of Macon, GA, Jerry (Freida) Hammontree of Chattanooga, eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren.
Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 7 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
