

Janice was known for her adventurous spirit, humorous nature, hard-working attitude, and her faithful dedication to her family and community. She was a beloved and thoughtful individual who touched the lives of many.
Janice received her bachelor's degree in education from Tennessee Wesleyan. She began her career as a schoolteacher at Chattanooga Valley Elementary and served on the Chattanooga City and Hamilton County School Boards for over 30 years. She was an active member of Calvary Chapel Chattanooga.
In 1965, Janice married LW "Buddy" Boydston, Jr. Together, they raised two children, Stacy Lynn Boydston and William Clay Boydston, who is married to Christie Boydston. Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her three grandchildren, Melissa Elizabeth (Stew) Parris, Cody Matthew (Annie) Boydston, and Abigail Lorraine Boydston, and was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Hudson Eli and Maverick Wyatt Parris, and Billy Lewis, Clare Emmeline, and Chloe Marie Boydston, whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Buddy in 2013, her parents, and her 5 siblings.
Janice was deeply involved in her community, dedicating much of her time and energy to the betterment of Hamilton County through her service on the school board. Her contributions have left a lasting impact on the community she loved.
A Celebration of Janice's Life will be held on Sunday January 4, 2026 at 3pm in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday January 3rd from 4-8 pm and again on Sunday starting at 1pm.
In honor of Janice's memory, memorial contributions may be made to either McKamey Animal Shelter or to the Humane Education Society, in lieu of flowers.
