Janice Faye Grant, 87, passed away on September 24, 2026. A resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Janice will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude for a life defined by steady devotion to others, quiet strength, and the kind of everyday kindness that leaves a lasting mark.
Born May 16, 1939, Janice graduated from Central High School, carrying forward the work ethic and determination that would become hallmarks of her life.
For 30 years, Janice and her late husband, Donald owned and operated Plaza Car Wash in Hixson, building not only a business, but a place shaped by consistency, care, and pride in doing things well. Afterward, she continued serving her community at the Walgreens in East Ridge, where she was an exemplary employee. More than that, Janice became a familiar, welcoming presence: a true mainstay at the Walgreens, known by name to so many, and just as faithfully remembering them in return.
Janice was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, where her faith and steady spirit were part of the fabric of her life. She found her greatest joy in time spent with her grandchildren, and she also enjoyed traveling, embracing each opportunity to be with those she loved and to make new memories along the way.
Janice was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Donald; her parents, Ted and Edna Baker; and her sister, Sandra Shaw.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dara Nichols; her granddaughter, Katie Johnson; her grandchildren, Payton and Owen Cuzzort, Konnely Gannaway, and Maddi and Amelia Jackson; her nephew, Garrett Shaw; and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home-East Chapel, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 pm, with Pastor Fred Santana officiating.
