Jean Wood

Jean Wood, 87, of Rossville, Ga., passed away peacefully on January 27, 2020. She was born in LaRue, Ohio, to the late Searle and Edna Munson. Jean trusted Christ as her Lord and Savior at LaRue Baptist Church. She moved to Chattanooga,Tennessee to attend Tennessee Temple College where she received her BA in Music. In Chattanooga she met the love of her life, Bob Wood. After spending time at home raising her two children, Jean went to work at Highland Park Baptist Church in the Pastoral Care Office. She also worked in the Temple Baptist Seminary office. Jean was a member of the Church of the Highlands and also attended the Faith Fellowship Class. Jean previously was a member and soloist for St. Elmo Baptist Church. She also attended Brainerd Baptist Church. Jean was a quiet, gentle Christian soul. She is greatly loved.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Bob Wood, her parents, and her siblings.

Left behind to cherish Jean's memory are her children, Greg Wood and Sandra Wood Spencer, grandson, Jesse Caleb Wood Spencer, several nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Beverly Moody and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Friday January 31, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Scott McCurdy officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday January 30, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. She will be laid to rest in the Forest Hills Cemetery with her husband.

The family wishes to offer a special thanks to the compassionate caregivers and staff of the Oncology Floor at CHI Memorial.
