

She was born on October 29, 1918 in Ringgold, GA to the late John Beene Taylor and Pearl Whittle Taylor. She graduated from Ringgold High School and Edmondson School of Business. She worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s grocery business and later retired after many years of service with Servamation Corporation.
She was a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church from January 1983 until her death. Her years as a member there, serving the Lord gladly, were one of the highlights of her life. She was a member of the Ladies Christian Circle, the Dorcas Sunday school class, and Senior Soldiers. She also sang with the choir and supported many church ministries. She was a willing volunteer when it came to serving the Lord and helping others.
Upon celebration of her 90th birthday, family members were asked to provide memories of Jessie. She was remembered by all for her love of serving, her hospitality, and her wonderful skills in the kitchen. She had a kind, loving spirit and loved everybody.
Her son Stan was involved in an accident in 1987 while helping a stranded motorist and suffered a severe brain injury. He has resided at Safe Haven in Rock Spring, GA for the past 8 years. She spent much of her time visiting with him, both at Safe Haven and at his previous residence in Atlanta.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Winefred “Wink” Neal; her brothers John Taylor, Broadus Taylor, and Thomas Taylor; her sisters Martha Taylor, Ina Goins and Wilma Ward.
She is survived by her daughter, Annita (Al) Guth and son Stan (Janice) Neal; her sisters Leola Hundley and Martharie King; her brother Marshall (Betty) Taylor; grandchildren Amy (Scott) Wright, Allan (Debbie) Guth, Andrew (Kellie) Guth, Matthew (Jana) Neal, and Nicholas (Ashlea) Neal; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel.
Funeral services will be on Thursday at 10 AM at Westside Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Moore officiating. Interment will be at Plowman Cemetery in Apison, TN.
The family wishes to thank all who lovingly helped care for her in the last few weeks of her life.
