

Jim was born and raised in Chattanooga. He was a graduate of Central High School Class of ’58 and regularly attended Central Connection lunches. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was also a US Air Force veteran. J. D. was a longtime employee of Western Electric, before retiring from AT&T with 35 years of service and belonged to the telephone retirees.
Jim collected all kinds of cars over the years but he liked old ones the most. If he wasn’t with his grandsons, you could find him at a car show or an estate sale.
He was preceded in death by his Mom and Stepdad, Corrine Wheeler and Burnard Martin; and Dad and Stepmom, James D. and Ovelline Hall, Sr.
Surviving are his daughter Janeen “Cheri” and husband, DeWayne Trantham; grandsons, Sammy and Patrick Trantham; sisters, Sylvia Campbell of Crossville, TN and Katherine Hall of Knoxville, TN; brother, Mike Hall; his companion of 31 years, Judith Parker and all her family; niece, Kara Sluder; and nephew, Eric Clark.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Sunday and 12 Noon to 1 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 1 PM on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Christopher Sheets officiating.
Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
The family would like to thank Miss Joan and all of her family for taking such good care of “Mr. Jim”.
