John Andrew Hadvizjak, 84, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on January 2, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on May 31, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late John Edward Hadvizjak and Margaret Agnes Vollrath.
John was known for being adventurous, brave, devoted, generous, hard-working, and thoughtful. He often spoke of being raised up north but moved south as soon as he could. After completing 12 years of school and serving 6 years in the Army, with a brief period in St. Louis, he settled in Georgia. He loved the warm weather, the DAWGS, and square dancing.
John joined the National Guard and worked at the Post Office. He married and was blessed with a daughter, although the marriage did not last, his love for his child remained steadfast. Eventually, he moved to Chattanooga, where he continued square dancing, this time with his partner and wife for the rest of his life.
Throughout his life, John served his country with honor, generously helped fellow veterans, and never forgot the birthdays and anniversaries of friends and family. He will be missed by many and is remembered for making a difference in the lives of those around him.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Lynne; daughter, Amie Hadvizjak Garrett (Lloyd); bonus sons, Bruce Greene (Patricia) and Rocky Greene (Kim); and grandchildren, Katelynne, Austin, Garrett, and Sam Greene, and his fur babe, Bella. He was preceded in death only by his parents.
Visitation will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home-East Chapel on Wednesday January 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue, starting at 12:00 pm. The Committal Service will take place at Chattanooga National Cemetery, following the service with military honors.
