Judson Charles Crandall, 84, of Ooltewah, TN., passed away on March 17, 2019. He was a veteran of both the United States Army where he served as a paratrooper and the United States Air Force. He served his country during the Korean War at which time he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze stars as well as the Purple Heart Medal. He received keys to the city by the mayor as a refugee from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina devastated the region. He was a member of New City Fellowship church. Jud as he was also known as was an avid ship model builder, a watch enthusiast, a great cook, and a food critic. But most importantly he was a devoted and loving husband for 65 years, and a fantastic father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Jud was preceded in death by his son, John Crandall, and his parents, Charles and Mary Crandall.
Left behind to cherish Jud’s memory are his wife, Josephine Marie Crandall, daughters, Gwyn (Tim) Root, Kim Crandall, and Christina (Michael) Frechette, grandchildren, Michelle Frechette, Kaitlyn Crandall, Kyle and Shawn Root, great-grandchildren, Samantha Salas, and Hank and Justine Root.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
