

Lewis Carroll Maxwell, Jr., a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2013 at the age of 83. He closed his eyes in death and stepped into the tangible reality of his faith completely healed of all infirmities and truly free.
He graduated from Central High School in 1948 and earned a B. S. Degree in Engineering at the University of Chattanooga in 1964. After serving two years in the U. S. Army, he returned to Bellsouth Telephone Company where he remained until he retired in 1987.
He was active in this life in his community through the Chattanooga Business Men's Committee, the Half-Century Club and served as past president of the Bellsouth Pioneers Club. He was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by both parents, Lewis C. Maxwell, Sr. and Sammie Brandon Maxwell. He is survived by his loving wife, Anita, one daughter, Diane Rush (Dick) of Chattanooga, two grandchildren, Jordan Rush (Sarah) of Knoxville and Ashley Hayes (Ryan) of Larwill, Indiana, and two great-grandchildren, Sadie Elizabeth Rush of Knoxville and Maddox Alexander Hayes of Indiana.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the extended family of caregivers, Deborah Monroe and Nancy Henry.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. Bruce Daugherty officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
