Lois Walker Matthews

Lois was born in Birchwood, TN to Newton and LaVina Hixson. She was raised in Chattanooga and attended Central High School. A member of Brainerd Baptist Church for over 60 years, she was also gifted in arts and crafts and helped organize the Gingham House Gift Shop on Brainerd Road in the early 1970s with a group of friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hayward M. Walker; second husband, Thomas Winfred Matthews; son, Richard Walker; brothers, Dewayne and Burl Hixson; and sister, Jean Upton.

Survivors are her son, Ron Walker of Newtown, PA; daughter, Linda Walker (Ron) Thompson of Pisgah Forest, NC; step-daughter, Rhyma (Jim) Lane; granddaughter, Sara Walker; brother, Edwin Hixson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Jim Lane and Sue Womble for the care and love they gave to Lois.

Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Monday, May 30, 2011 followed by a 1 PM Funeral Service at the funeral home with Rev. Michael D. Hixson officiating.

Private Burial Services will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
