Lorine Virginia Hughes

Lorine was born on January 19, 1938, in Chattanooga. She was a longtime member of the Greens Lake Church of Christ in East Ridge, TN. Lorine loved working with flowers and was a florist at East Ridge Florist for many years. She also worked for Colonial Bakery in Cleveland, TN.

Lorine was preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh E. Clark and Nadine G. (Petty) Clark; her husband of 47 years, Carl E. Hughes, Sr.; her son, Gregory Scott Hughes; her grandson, Phillip Lee Gillihan; her granddaughter, Tiffany S. Hughes; and her brother, Raymond Clark.

She is survived by her sons, Clifford E. (Sonia A.) Hughes and Carl E. (Nancye) Hughes, Jr.; her siblings, Sheila Clark Burrows and David (Doris) Clark; her 5 grandchildren, Christie (Donnie) Kennedy, Misty Matthews, Curtis Hughes, Nicholas (Ashley) Hughes, and Lindsey Hughes; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members.

A visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral service. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at the funeral home with church minister Jim R. Lewis officiating. A burial will follow at Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery in Chattanooga.
