

Lorraine was a 1946 graduate of Chattanooga Central High School and attended the University of Chattanooga where she majored in Business Administration.
She was a devoted member of Simpson United Methodist Church in Rossville, GA for over 65 years and was director of music for over 35 years. Following her retirement from that position, she continued singing in the Chancel Choir. She was a third generation member of the United Methodist Women where she held many positions. She was also a member of the Scenic City Choral for several years.
Lorraine was retired from TVA where she was employed for 37 years. Her last position was as Employment Officer in the Division of Personnel.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ralph Hixson and brother, Malcolm L. (Jo Anna) Grier.
Survivors include her nephews, Danny (Robbie) Grier of Chattanooga, TN and Russ (Dee) Grier of Rossville, GA; great-nephews, Eric (Kari) Grier, Adam (Lorraine) Grier, Seth (Laura) Grier and Patrick (Megan) Grier; aunt, Millie Cabbage of Aiken, SC; cousins, Joan Copeland and Jerry (Sherry) Cotter of Oakridge, TN and Jeanene Jones of Knoxville, TN.
Funeral services will be held at 12 PM Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with Rev. Justin Keating officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery at a later date. Members of the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Simpson Chancel choir will be honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 12 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Simpson Unites Methodist Church, 601 McFarland Avenue, Rossville, GA 30741.
The family would like to especially thank the Staff of Rosewood at Fort Oglethorpe and Tapestry Hospice for their personal and loving, tender care.
