Slater “Mac”(Durdur) Pendley, 90, of East Ridge passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026. He was a member of Crosspath Church (formerly East Ridge Baptist Church) since 1955 where he had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher for the Deaf and a member of the choir. Mac was a self-employed entrepreneur for most of his life. He attended the University of Chattanooga. Mac was also an honorary member of the Alhambra Shrine Ladies Helping Hands where he starred in Hee Haw shows, starring twice as Hank Williams and once as Grandpa Jones. An active member of the East Ridge Community, Mac served on the Industrial Development Board as well as the Zoning Appeals Board.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane (Murmur) Pendley, a great-grandson Duke Dunwoody, and a brother Raymond Pendley.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Pendley; two daughters, Tonya (Andy) Mullins and Dessa (Eddie) Hall; two sons, Leon Pendley and Keith (Cheryl) Pendley; eight grandchildren, Zach (Jessica) Lane, Amber (Jonathan) Jones, Drew Mullins, Travis (Jill) Mavity, Kevin Hall, Jerrica (Craig) Pendley, Slater (Olivia) Pendley and Emily (James) Dunwoody; 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Sunday September 6, 2026 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road followed by a funeral service at 4 PM in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. The burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East at 12 PM Tuesday September 8, 2026.
