Margaret Elsie Ireland

Peggy was born on January 24, 1930 in Chattanooga. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Hazel Donovan and was the wife of the late H. Hudson Ireland, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her son, Tom Ireland.

She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and a member of O.L.P.H. Catholic Church where she was an active member volunteering in numerous roles for over 50 years.

Peggy was an avid golfer and was just awarded a lifetime membership by the Brainerd Women’s Golf Association. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was an active member of two bridge clubs.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Skip (Joi) Ireland and Jim (Lynn) Ireland of Chattanooga; a daughter, Laura (Don) Johnson of Cookeville, TN, and a daughter-in-law, Dolores Ireland of Chattanooga. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lindsey (Seth); Olivia (Jason); Hudson, Amanda, Nick, Dustin, Dylan, Natalie, and Drew.

Funeral services will be held at O.L.P.H. on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 11a.m. preceded by a rosary and visitation from 10-11a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or Notre Dame High School.
