Marie Corder

Marie Culpepper Corder of East Ridge passed away on September 1, 2025. She was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church for 33 years. Marie was employed by Dupont, Credit Bureau and J.C. Penney. She worked in the office and retired after 29 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Effie Kennedy; first husband, Grady Culpepper; brother, Derval (Ruth) Kennedy.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Corder; son, Gerald (Shirley) Culpepper; niece Kathy Vaughn (Red) Harris; nephew Dwight (Dee)Kennedy.

Marie was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, loved camping, nature walks and had been very active in her church. The family wishes to recognize a special friend, Faye Wilson for her friendship and visits. Marie appreciated the prayers and cards of love of her church members during her long illness. Special thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga as well.

Marie and Steve had a wonderful marriage of 42 years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, September 5, 2025 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with Pastor Steven Grabiner officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 PM Friday. Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
