

Marilyn Parsons, 76, of Chattanooga passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 in a local hospital. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Dantzler Sunday School Class. Mrs. Parsons was a graduate of Chattanooga High School class of 1953 and was a member of Scenic City Seniors and the Senior Travel Group at Woodland Park Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred O. Parsons, II and her parents, Alvin T. Cox, Sr. and Emily Bates Cox.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Pruitt and her husband Kenneth, of Chattanooga and Darlene Taylor and her husband Whit of Shelbyville, TN; four grandchildren, Michelle Luetgens, Mindy Pruitt, Matthew Taylor and Michael Taylor; two brothers, Alvin T. “Tommy” Cox and his wife Lynda of Chattanooga and William G. ”Jerry” Cox and his wife Kay of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Betty Jo Jackson and her husband Charlie of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Allison officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The family will receive friends from 2-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
