Mary Beth Cotter Gross, 57, beloved wife, sister and friend died peacefully on November 29, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones. She valiantly fought ovarian cancer for 3 ½ years, inspiring many along her journey. Beth was a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Born November 19, 1962, Beth graduated from Tyner High School in 1981. She played tennis and basketball at Gainesville Jr. College and played golf at UTC where she graduated in 1985. She loved the outdoors and was a beloved caddy at The Honors Golf Course in Ooltewah for 15 years. She was formerly employed by Volunteer Sales.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh P. and Bettye H. Cotter.

Beth is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 34 years, Charles “Butch” Gross; her brothers, Joe (Pamela), Brian and Steven Cotter; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Her friends will miss her deeply, and are grateful for her unconditional love.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Monday, December 2nd at OLPH Catholic Church with Father Mike Creson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 1st from 4 to 8 PM at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road in Chattanooga.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421 (www.cancer.org) or McKamey Animal Center, 4500 Access Road, Chattanooga, TN 37415 (www.mckameyanimalcenter.org).

Butch, there are no words to describe my sorrow. Beth was my patient, and quickly became my Friend. I'm so happy y'all were able to go to Key West and Dauphin Island and make so many memories this year. I can't imagine the hole in your life. Beth was truly one of a kind and I know she kept you on your toes!!!! I regret she never got to teach me to ride a motorcycle!!! My love and prayers are with you and your Family. Butch and Family my heart is breaking for you all . I keep thinking about calling her yesterday to check on her and hoping to hear that she had a good day but knowing I would never be able to do that again. Beth was truly my best friend.
