Mr. Griffin was born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late George and Blanche Griffin. He was a self-employed landscaper. Matthew will always be remembered as a happy and caring person with a great sense of humor, a warm smile and generous with his time helping others.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents; George C. Griffin and Blanche Olivier Griffin siblings Mike Griffin, and Shirley Griffin O’Brien.
He is survived by brothers George Griffin, Pat Griffin, Dan Griffin, Tim Griffin, Gerald Griffin, Terrence Griffin and sister Sylvia Griffin Elands. He is also survived by his loving family in Chatsworth:, Robin Lynn Thomas and her daughters; Billie Lynn Thomas, Valerie Jean Thomas, Alishia Marie VandeWalker and Amanda Marie Mondo , son Christopher W. Thomas, their 8 children and Harvey and Wilma Barnett. A memorial service was held in Chatsworth on Saturday, August 4, 2012 and additional services were held Saturday August 11, in Jacksonville, FL.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist. 404 South Moore Road.
