
Melinda L’Heureux Hickey, 79, passed away on February 10, 2023. She was a life- long resident of Chattanooga, Tn. Melinda graduated from Notre Dame High School and attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. During her career of service to the Chattanooga community, she was a Master puppeteer with Chattanooga Kids on the Block and the Health Educator for the Chattanooga Epilepsy Foundation. She was founding member of the Chattanooga Citizens Police Academy and had recently been appointed to the Police Review and Advisory Committee. Melinda also was a founding member and past president of the Belvoir Neighborhood Association. She was an avid dancer with the Massari-Wood Dance Center and performed in the Civic Ballets production of the Nutcracker every year.
Survivors include her husband Paul John Hickey, daughter Cathy (Chip) Stubsten, sons Tim Hickey and David C. Hickey, sister Marbeth (Tom) Owen and brother David M (Sybil) L’heureux; granddaughter Claire Stubsten and, numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 1 PM Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mike Nolan officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Wednesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, Melinda’s family requests you take an enjoyable walk outdoors and if possible, make a donation to the Chattanooga Epilepsy Foundation.
