Michael G. Whaley, 59, of East Ridge departed this life on February 19, 2013. He was a lifelong resident of East Ridge. He was born July 11, 1953 in Chattanooga. He attended East Ridge High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. He was an avid Tennessee Vol’s fan and enjoyed camping, water sports and shooting pool with his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife Karen Sue Whaley; son Michael Shane Whaley; grandson Logan Michael Whaley; parents Charles and Mary Lou Whaley; step-son Jeremy Dotson; sisters Sandy Whaley and Pam Wells; brother Terry (Connie) Whaley; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday February 23 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Dean officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5-9 and Friday from 8 am - 9 pm.
