Mildred Virginia Abercrombie, age 98 of Chattanooga died May 13, 2012. She was born July 15, 1913 in Cedartown, Georgia to John Alton and Electa Frances Fields. They moved to Chattanooga in 1915. She was employed by JC Penney Company, for 13 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter C. “Bud” Abercrombie, daughter Joan O’Guin; sisters Forrest Houts, Frances Wright, Betty McDaris,; brothers John W. Fields, Alton Fields and Wilburn Fields.
Survivors include grandchildren Robert H. “Buddy” O’Guin, Jr. (Angela) and Leesa (David) Jennings; ten great grandchildren Tiffany (Thomas)Hash, Ryan (Shannon) O’Guin, Lindsay Helton (Butch Ownby), Mary Katherine O’Guin, McGavock O’Guin, Corey Hash, Savanna Hash, Cassidy Hash, Steven Nichols and Jadah Ownby; two great great grandchildren Gabriel Helton and Caleb Ownby; sister Minnielu Jackson.
Mrs. Abercrombie’s family would like to thank Linda Williams for her devoted and loving care that has made her part of the family.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday May 17, 2012 at Forest Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home from 5-7 Wednesday Evening.
