Mildred Ward

Mildred Irene Ward, 85, of East Ridge passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 at her home. She was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and the Good Samaritan Sunday School Class. Mrs. Ward was retired from J. C. Penney after 18 years of service as a sales associate. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting and collecting teapots.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lelton Ward on February 10; her parents, Rev. Malvin and Alice Ortwein; several brothers and a sister.

Survivors include her children, Sharon Ward of Maryville, TN, Gary Ward, Douglas (Eva) Ward of Ringgold, GA and Janice Ward of Chattanooga; two grandsons, Benjamin (Ashley) Ward and Kyle (Amanda) Ward; great-grandson, Carter Ward; sister, Alice Marie (Gilbert) Billingsley; brother, Jim (Aline) Ortwein; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 PM Sunday and 12 – 1 PM Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with Dr. C. Richard Mason officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
