Opal Burgess Booth, 98, of East Ridge, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 17, 2012. She was a member of Calvary Bible Church and taught Sunday School for several years at Chattanooga Gospel Tabernacle and later at First Alliance Church. Her home and church were most important to Opal. She was born in Gadsden, Alabama November 15, 1913 to Baney M. and Vera McNair Burgess and graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga.
Opal was preceded in death by her son, David W. Booth; two sisters, Wynema Smith and Susie Bishop.
Survivors include her husband of 74 years, P.D. Booth; daughter-in-law, Vickey Booth; granddaughter, Ashley Booth; grandson, Aaron Booth; great-grandson, Gage Brown; three nephews, Joe Smith of Indianapolis, IN, Tommy Smith of Chattanooga, TN and Charles Smith of Knoxville; several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. William Henry and the Rev. Gene Hall officiating. Private burial will be later in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
