
She was born August 6, 1923 in Chattanooga to the late Clarence Hoyt Groner and Ollie Mae Hixson Groner. Peggy was a graduate of Chattanooga High School and attended the University of Chattanooga, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church, during which time she was active with Changed Lives, It’s A Wonderful Life and the Missionary Closet. Peggy was also a member and former President of the Crestwood Garden Club.
Throughout her life Peggy was guided by an unbending faith in God, and the light of that faith shone in every aspect of her life. She was a devoted wife, incomparable mother, cherished grandparent, beloved aunt and faithful friend. Peggy was a righteous woman who has been reunited with those loved ones that have gone before as she sits at the right hand of her Lord. She’s home now.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Martin Love, and her sister, Betty June Groner Weigel.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Love Schubert Scott (Ronald Scott) of Daphne, Alabama; son, John Martin Love, Jr. of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; grandchildren Katie Schubert Chason, John Pierce Schubert, Jr., Barton Schubert, and Laura Love; great-grandchildren Sydney Schubert, Bethany Schubert, Judson Chason, Wesley Chason and Collin Chason; three great-great grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, August 19 at Chattanooga Funeral Home East, 404 South Moore Road, followed by a graveside service at National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, or your local hospice organization.
