

Peter Anthony Caldwell, a beloved husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather and uncle passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. He was seventy-five. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty years, Carol Gulas Caldwell, his two daughters Nicole Caldwell Shields (Mike) and Stephanie Caldwell (Emily), and his sister, Maria Caldwell Lubkowitz. He was a very special ‘Papa’ to his three grandsons: Christopher, James, and John Shields. He was a treasured uncle to his seven nieces and two nephews, and all of his great nieces and great nephews.
Pete graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1965 where he met his sweetheart, Carol. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Pete was a retired member of the United States Navy who served in The Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. His career was spent at Blue Cross Blue Shield. In his spare time, he spent many years as a TSSAA youth sports referee.
He will be remembered for his zest for life and a love of adventure. He enjoyed any time spent outdoors including working in his yard and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was an avid sports fan with an affinity for his daughters’ alma mater, The University of Georgia. His wit and vitality are equally matched by his kindness, gentle heart, and sweet spirit for which he will be remembered.
The family will receive guests at the Chattanooga Funeral Home 404 South Moore Road on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 5PM to 7PM.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 21, 2022 at 9:30AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery 1200 Bailey Avenue.
Pete was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 501 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tennessee 37412.
