Phyllis Broome Edwards of Collierville, Tennessee, formerly of Chattanooga and Dalton, Georgia passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at her home after an extended illness. She was a 52-year member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International: a leadership, educational,and philanthropic organization devoted to raising funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Easter Seals and other charitable causes.
She served as president of the Alpha Beta Chapter, Delta Rho Chapter, Chattanooga Area Council, Tennessee State Council, and the International Council. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Walter E. Boehm Birth Defects Center where she served a term as President, and Candlelighters Family Support Group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lidell Edwards; sons Robert Alan Edwards and Jon Lidell Edwards; sisters Margaret Ann Redic and Wanda Broome McLaughlin and her parents, Luther and Daisy Broome. She is survived by her son, Dr. Mark S. Edwards of Germantown, Tennessee; three grandchildren: Mark Edwards, Jr. (Angel), Emily Edwards Hale and Megan Edwards Kimball (Phillip); great granddaughter Harper Clare Kimball and daughter- in- law Connie Redden Edwards and her brother Frank Broome (Joyce); brother- in- law Max Redic, Jr; niece Phyllis Redic Schneider and nephews Bryan Andrezejewski and Max Redic, III.
Services will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 3:00 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with visitation two hours prior to the service. The Rev. Luke McKay will officiate. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery in Dalton, Georgia.
