Raymond Thomas “Ray” Rich, 84, of East Ridge passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022. He was of the Baptist Faith. Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He earned his Master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University and retired as a teacher and coach having served at Middle Tennessee State University and in Richmond, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Thomas Rich and Nellie Mae Talley Rich; two sisters, Dorothy Thompson and Virginia Sewell; one brother, Bobby Rich.
Survivors include his son, Clay McDevitt; two granddaughters, Brooke McDevitt and Hannah McDevitt; siblings, Jimmy (Jessy) Rich of Knoxville, TN, Gloria Mitchell, Wanda (Louie) Thompson and Ronnie Rich all of East Ridge, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. Robert Schrader officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Air Force honors. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
