Rhonda Kay Gravitt

Rhonda Kay Gravitt, 61, passed away on July 31, 2026. Born September 19, 1964, Rhonda lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and left behind a circle of family and friends who will remember her with deep affection—and with plenty of smiles, because laughter was one of her favorite languages.

Rhonda graduated from Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, TN, in 1982. In those early years, her energy and spirit shone through as a cheerleader, and in the joy, she found in tumbling and twirling baton, always moving, always bright, always ready for the next moment.

For many years, Rhonda served as the office manager for Bo-South, where her steady loyalty and care for others fit naturally with the work she loved: customer service and bookkeeping. She had a way of making people feel understood, whether the task was complicated or the day was simply long.

Rhonda was married to James “Brett” Gravitt. As a stepmother, she poured her heart into Brett’s children: Cameron Gravitt of Georgia, Rachel (Nathan) Graham of Cleveland, TN, and Corey Gravitt of Chattanooga. Though Rhonda never had children of her own, she found a special kind of joy in being “Grandma” to a cherished granddaughter, Anilyn Gravitt of Chattanooga, whom she adored.

She is also survived by her sisters, Donna (Gary) Runyan and Trina (Scott) Moyer of Cleveland, TN; her brothers, Roger (Michelle) Bond of Wilmington, NC, Jim (Gina) Bond of Norwalk, Oh, and Bill Hildenbrand of Fort Wayne, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rhonda and Brett enjoyed taking cruises; proof that her sense of adventure didn’t need much convincing. At home, her days were often filled with the things she loved: reading, crafting, needlework, painting, and playing games. She was a beautiful singer, and those who heard her knew it wasn’t just a voice; it was heart. Her pets meant the world to her, and she loved them dearly.

A faithful member of Crosspath Baptist Church, Rhonda loved her Lord and Savior. That faith, paired with her compassion and steady devotion to the people she loved, shaped a life that felt welcoming and safe to be near. Her classmates once described her as the “sweetest person” in their graduating class; beloved and cherished, and those who knew her best would agree that sweetness and humor lived side by side in her, as natural as breathing.

A Celebration of Rhonda's Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Wednesday August 5, 2026, at 11:00 am with Pastor Roger Woods officiating. The family will welcome friends and extended family to the visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 9:00 am. She will be laid to rest following the service in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson.
