

He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus Council No. 6099. He was born September 21, 1925 in Brooklyn , NY to William Christen and Estelle Aubrey Schults.
He graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1943, and attended Brooklyn College before being called to duty in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served in the Asian Theater aboard the USS Pittsburgh as Electronics Technician. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Brooklyn College for two years. Transferring to University of Michigan, he graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering. He received a Master Degree in Business from Michigan State University.
Richard worked in the Appliance Industry for several major corporations, retiring at the age of 67 from the Roper General Electric Plant in Lafayette, GA. He continued to accept consulting jobs for several years and appeared in court as an expert witness for Roper G.E.
He was an active member of Chattanooga Engineers' Club, the American Society for Quality Control, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and the Emeritas Club of UM Alumni Association.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Hilda Regina Schults, three daughters Cecilia Marie Witt (Mitchel), Kathleen Ann Bramlet (Dr. Dale E.), Louise Regina Schults, daughter-in-law Josie Tigtag Schults.
Grandchildren are; Christina Ann Moser (Clift), Matthew Eric Witt (Ashley), Carrie Ann Bramlet, Kelly Marie Bramlet, Kristen Nicole Bramlet, Elisabeth Caitlin Schults and Eric Thomas Schults.
Great-grandchildren are Caleb Wayne, Celia Ann, Clint Mitchel, and Carch David Moser.
Also surviving are sister-in-law Carol Schults, niece Carol Ann Mikesh, 3 nephews John, William, and Robert Schults.
Deceased are his parents, son Thomas Joseph Schults, and two brothers Dr. John E. Schults and Raymond A. Schults.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday September 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with Fr. James Vick officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before services at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery
