After completing his high school diploma from Kirtman he joined the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a decorated member of the 101 airborne Screaming Eagles. Received three bronze stars, two purple hearts and other awards too many too list.
Survivors include his wife Brenda Ellis, two sons Christopher Ellis and Timothy Ellis. He is also survived by four male grand children. On Christopher Ellis’s side Johan Ellis and Jonas Ellis on his older sons side (Timothy Ellis) His is survived by grandchildren Kyle Ellis Yoshida and Tyler Ellis Yoshida. His mother Ozell Scroggins as well as his sister Sue Wise also . Funeral services will be held 10:00 Monday in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Father Jim Vick officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening 4-6.
