She was born on June 26, 1934 in Greeneville, TN to Reverend William Edward Bishop and Mary Susan Campbell Bishop. She was a longtime resident of Chattanooga graduating from Chattanooga High School and the University of Chattanooga where she was a member of Alpha Delta Phi. Her high school and college ties led to lifelong friendships.
She was a longtime, active member of St. John United Methodist Church. Having found great satisfaction in service to others, she passionately volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Ronald McDonald House and St. John's Care and Share Program, which she helped to establish in 1996. She was also a member of The River City Writers Club.
She spent her working years with the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Hamilton County School System.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jere Earl Martin, her parents, her sister Ann McNeer and her brother William (Bill) Bishop.
She is survived and cherished by her son and daughter-in-law Andy and Kari Martin; her daughter and son-in-law Melissa (Missy) and John Halsell; Grandchildren Justin Morgan (Lauren); Tyler Morgan (Elisabeth); Morgan Martin and Campbell Martin; Great grandson Andrew Morgan; Step-granddaughters Taylor Halsell and Blair Halsell; Stepgreat grandson Noah Casey and a host of family and loyal friends whom she loved and who loved her along the way.
A celebration honoring Rosellen's life will be at 3 p.m, September 2nd, at St. John United Methodist Church with Pastor John Moore and Pastor Dallas Beck
officiating. The family will receive friends September 1st, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, and two hours prior to the service at the church.
Internment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery on September 3rd, at 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
