Ruth Howorth Wells

Ruth was born in West Point, Mississippi a daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche Halbert Howorth. She was a graduate of Mississippi University for Women and worked for TVA during WWII. She was a TVA Volunteer, a member of MOAA and a member of the Chattanooga Alumni Group of the MUW.

She was a loving wife and mother, her warm smile brightened everyone’s day. She was loved by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Graham Wells, Jr. and a sister, Virginia Mims.

Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca Wells (John) Wise of Atlanta, GA and Linda Wells (Jon) Scheurman of Hiawassee, GA; two grandchildren, Lacey (Sol) Johnson-Mey of Denver, CO. and Stuart Schuerman of Atlanta, GA; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, December 23 at First Christian Church with the Rev. Phil Summerlin officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM Monday at the church.
